Roma wins the 32nd Scopigno Cup by beating Atalanta 4-2 in the final played at the Centro d’Italia-Manlio Scopigno stadium in Rieti. The Giallorossi start strong and score twice in the first 10 minutes: in the 9th minute, Vella, served by Maccaroni, breaks the deadlock with a low left-footed shot to the cross. The ball is in the center and Maccaroni himself scores the second goal with a half-height shot near the penalty spot that Rota can do nothing about. Atalanta gets back into the game in the 21st minute with Colombo, who collects a short clearance from the defense to score with a left-footed strike from the edge of the area. In the second half, Roma extends the lead again in the 40th minute, with the penalty converted by Teixeira after Rota’s foul in the area on Giammattei. In the 51st minute, the Bergamo team closed the gap again with a header from Cojocariu, following a corner kicked by Bolis, but in injury time, it was the newly entered Modugno who finally closed the game with a powerful right-footed shot into the bottom corner to Rota’s right. For Roma, this was their seventh win in the tournament, their last success dating back to the 2019 edition.
In the afternoon, Lazio won on penalties against Fiorentina, in Poggio Bustone, in the final of the Fair Play Cup, and Lazio Women U17 won 2-1 against their peers from Ternana Women in the final of the 3rd Scopigno Cup Women’s Football Under 17.
