Together with the prestigious tournament known throughout the world, this year the third edition of the women’s tournament, also under 17, will take place in Cittareale.
“The novelty is instead represented by the first Tournament Scopigno Cup Special Olympics in collaboration with Special Olympics Rieti – said the president of the ASD Scopigno Cup Fabrizio Formichetti– also the international art exhibition is planned, the conference in collaboration with the AIAC Lazio, a conference on violence against women and one on water as a common good and in the light of sustainability”.

An edition in which, as usual, sport will join all three hundred and sixty degrees with the territory, tourism, culture and above all with solidarity: moments that want to combine competition with a necessary reflection on issues of daily importance”

“Thanks to the passion and determination of the organizers, this event allows you to reproduce and regenerate over time, to improve and go even beyond the football competition” said Andrea Abodi, Minister for Sport and Youth.

“The Scopigno Cup and Fabrizio Formichetti’s work demonstrate that football can give so much – said the Hon. Paolo Trancassini, commissioner of the Chamber of Deputies – the multiplicity of issues touched upon by the event and the associated initiatives demonstrate that certain issues are taken to their destination via the shortcut brought about by football”.

“The Scopigno Cup is an event that has honored Rieti for thirty-one years -said the Mayor of Rieti Daniele Sinibaldi– today the Scopigno Stadium is finally usable again thanks also to the commitment of the councilor for Sport Mestichelli: it will be a great moment of sport, aggregation and to relaunch tourism. I am very happy with the collaboration with L’Aquila with which we are linked by the initiative of nominating the areas affected by the earthquake as capital of Italian culture, with L’Aquila as the leader”.

“The kids who will play this year are those born close to the L’Aquila earthquake, who didn’t know it before but who witnessed its progress up to today’s advanced reconstruction” said the mayor of L’Aquila Pierluigi Biondi.

Also present were Stefano Callipo, President of the Violence and Suicide Observatory: “Sport is an antidote against deviance, discomfort, but also against crime: through sport many people have been reintegrated into the social fabric”.

Roberto Gabrielli, Head of the Lazio and Abruzzo Regional Management of Intesa Sanpaolo underlined: “The Scopigno Cup has reached its 31st edition and Intesa Sanpaolo has been pleased to support this International Tournament for six years

football under 17. Our support is part of the Group’s broader commitment to the world of sport and young people and offers us a good opportunity to demonstrate, once again, the closeness of the bank towards the individual territories in which it operates and the proximity to communities”.

Giorgio Annis, CEO of CRAI TIRRENO reiterated: “Crai Tirreno once again confirms its closeness to the world of sport and, in particular, to the world of football. The real engines of these events are the organizers: we do our part to support the continuity of these initiatives. Like Crai Tirreno, we are very attached to the Scopigno name and we are proud to do our part in this event that promotes sport, tourism and solidarity”.

Pino Magno, Ceo NewAge, Umbro licensee also spoke: “The Scopigno Cup Rieti has now become an unmissable event for Umbro Italia and I am happy to give our technical support for the third consecutive year to the boys who are preparing to compete in this 31st edition of the tournament. Umbro is a point of reference for footballers from all over the world, but the boys are our true treasure, our hope. The hope of returning to living football as a game, the most beautiful game, with the healthy values of this sport. This is why we want to support those who play carefree and with determination without a prestigious goal to pursue, only counting on the strength of an unconditional love for this wonderful sport, like the one that has marked the life and career of Manlio Scopigno. We are sure we can find tomorrow’s talent among these very young athletes and we believe it is essential to focus on the new generation, cultivate their enthusiasm and improve performance, only in this way can we build the champions who can once again make Italy great and strong in the Olympus of football”.
