The CONI Hall of Honor hosted the latest edition of the Manlio Scopigno and Felice Pulici award, which has now become a regular event in the calendar of sports awards, linked to the ASD Scopigno Cup, an international youth soccer tournament. The event was conducted with elegance by television author and writer Eleonora Rossi, who signed the biography of Evaristo Beccalossi “My life as number 10”, and with rhythm and competence by the journalist Giovanni Scaramuzzino, one of the historic voices of 90° minuto.

The members of the guests’ honorary stage, composed of Dr. Gianni Letta, the Prefect of Rieti Dr. Pinuccia Niglio, the president of the Paralympic Committee Luca Pancalli and Professor Stefano Callipo, president of the Violence and Suicide Observatory, took turns in awarding the rich and prestigious list of winners of this edition: Simone Inzaghi (Inter), best coach of Serie A, Fabio Pecchia (Parma) and Cesc Fabregas (Como), best coaches of Serie B, Emiliano Bigica (Sassuolo), best coach of the “Primavera” team, Lautaro Martinez (Inter), best player of Serie A, Joel Pohjanpalo (Venice), best player of Serie B, Giancarlo Marotta (Inter) and Giovanni Sartori (Bologna), best managers of Serie A, Roberto Samaden (Atalanta), best manager of the youth sector, Antonio Percassi (Atalanta), best president of Serie A, Michele Di Gregorio (Monza-Juventus), best goalkeeper of Serie A, Andrea Fulignati (Catanzaro), best Serie B goalkeeper, Jacopo Volpi (Rai), career journalism award, Andrea Sorrentino (Il Messaggero) and Stefano Barigelli (La Gazzetta dello Sport), best print journalists, Monica Vanali (Mediaset) and Simona Rolandi (RAI), best female television journalists, Domenico Forletta (Radio Rai), best radio journalist, Riccardo Coli (Juventus), best press office manager, Leonardo Bonucci and Giovanni Galli, awarded for their glorious career. This year, in addition to football, the organizing committee also wanted to award personalities from the world of entertainment and so Red Canzian, historic bass player of Pooh, took the stage and on this occasion wanted to talk about his next project: “Casanova opera pop”, a musical that will be on tour in China with 15 performances.

Worth mentioning during the event was the touching memory that Fabrizio Formichetti, president of the ASD Scopigno CUP and of the same award, dedicated to Franco Chimenti, president of the Italian Golf Federation who recently passed away. Jacopo Volpi also left his mark when, in his speech, he said that a Manlio Scopigno would be needed in today’s football to defuse everything that is happening.

Gianni Letta, from the height of his wisdom, underlined how “sport is one of the few things in the world that unites rather than divides, bringing the peace that we all hope for”.

The day was finally ennobled by Luca Pancalli with a learned quote from the French philosopher Henry Bergson “the future is not what will happen but what we will do”. A phrase that fits not only to sport but above all to the sad events of wars that unfortunately we have been experiencing for months.
