Lazio-Napoli and Vegalta Sendai-Atalanta, the two semifinals scheduled for tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m., will decide which of the four teams that came within a whisker of the title will compete in the 33rd Scopigno Cup this afternoon.
Aside from the Japanese, who had already qualified with a match to spare, the results of the third matchday shed definitive light on the three groups. Midtjlland’s 3-2 victory over Roma secured qualification for Lazio, the 2-2 draw between Atalanta and Fiorentina rewarded the Bergamo club’s superior goal difference (+3) over the Viola, while Napoli’s 1-0 victory over Benevento in the Campania group allowed the Azzurri to travel to Rieti for the final matchday of the tournament. In the fourth match of the day, which had no impact on qualification, Juventus narrowly defeated Ternana (1-0), but must settle for second place in their group.
Tomorrow marks the final day with the two semifinals scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Scopigno stadium (Lazio vs. Napoli) and the Rietello Sports Center (Vegalta Sendai vs. Atalanta). The final, broadcast live on RaiSport, will be held at 5:00 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony for the winners and losers, including the Fair Play Cup between Juventus and Fiorentina (2:00 p.m. at Poggio Bustone).
Please note that admission to the Manlio Scopigno stadium for the semifinals and final is free.
